{"id":25,"date":"2007-04-12T10:43:13","date_gmt":"2007-04-12T15:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.peacefulways.com\/?p=25"},"modified":"2010-03-20T14:20:47","modified_gmt":"2010-03-20T19:20:47","slug":"what-say-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.peacefulways.com\/?p=25","title":{"rendered":"What say you?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This was my posted response to a NYTmes article about the proliferation of hidden cameras in stores (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/webaccess.villanova.edu\/owa\/redir.aspx?C=5f4573634ec14990b80423bcca62ebec&amp;URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.nytimes.com%2f2010%2f03%2f20%2fbusiness%2f20surveillance.html%3fth%26emc%3dth\" target=\"_blank\">In Bid to Sway Sales, Cameras Track Shoppers<\/a>) <\/strong>and how this has become acceptable as good business practice:<\/p>\n<p>I sometimes laugh (or cry?) when I recall the concern folks once had about the future as depicted in Brave New World and 1984. That was dictatorship, control, and the Soviet Union (for the \u201850s and \u201860s). Now it\u2019s happening here, and most everyone takes it for granted. A half century ago, there would have been outrage. How truly these books now appear to be predicting our future.
