I believe that <a title=\"Deaths in British Ambulance Corps\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ourstory.info\/library\/4-ww2\/Friends\/fauTC.html\">COs\u2019 sacrifice<\/a> is the more meaningful. I respect the memory of the many COs I have known,\u00a0<!--more-->some from my own Quaker Meeting including WWII COs Ross Tuttle (volunteered for medical experiments with lice placed in his underwear), Dixon Werner (an unarmed medic), Bill Hargrave, Walter Isard (orderly in psychiatric hospital, working to reform patient care) and others. My Meeting also included Ray Moore, a WWI CO medic whose life was changed when his partner was shot dead beside him in the ambulance. They are often called cowards and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?tbm=bks&amp;hl=en&amp;q=deaths+of+two+Hutterite+draftees.Leavenworth\"> treated badly<\/a>\u00a0by a public that hates them and fears their influence and integrity,, while in fact real COs are generally the bravest of men.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Both Conscientious Objectors and soldiers die in wartime.
