Profits before poison – 300,000 Americans suddenly without safe drinking water.

“Authorities struggled to determine how much danger the little-known chemical, MCHM, or 4-methylcyclohexane methanol, posed. ‘The only appropriate use for this water is toilet flushing.’” (New York Times)

“Freedom Industries” (source of the water poisoning) stands for the “freedom” of our capitalist industries (food, energy, transportation, etc.) to freely administer potential poisons onto the public. Whenever an accident occurs, they have seized the freedom to cover their eyes, ears and hands, and say “We see no evil, hear no evil, do no evil” because they have used their evil power to make ignorance their public defense. This power must be abolished, and the people peacefully reclaim their government from the evil doers of our private corporately-held government.

Evil doers should not be thought of as evil people. I focus on our actions, not individuals (we are all a mix of good and bad). But ignorant and frightened people are ignorantly doing evil, in the mistaken view that this is somehow the only way to save civilization, freedom and their families. Fear blots out information, without information we are all ignorant, and in ignorance we are lost.

  1. Corporations look at paying fines as part of the cost of doing business. No CEO is ever charged for the crimes of the corporation, while the rest of us are the ones who pay for this, both in money and health. Chris Hedges gets it right —

  2. “Freedom Industries, which owns the chemical tank that ruptured, is exempt from Department of Environmental Protection inspections and permitting since it stores chemicals, and does not produce them.” also
