No War with Iran, no assassinations.

A major action at City Hall this afternoon followed by a parade around the city. Hundreds of us, mostly young people. We occupied the city  plaza and streets (no permits for this one) – seizure by people power. During the parade I carried one end of the lead banner that read “NO WAR AGAINST IRAN,” The youthful activists did well to organized this event so quickly. Loud and a good ruckus at times, but always nonviolent.

  1. A month earlier I served as police/security liaison for an EQAT action at PECO’s site in Phoenixville, PA. We are working to have PECO move to life-saving and world-saving renewable energies. There were four arrests. I encouraged the arrestees to apply to Philadelphia Yearly Meeting’s Fund for Sufferings, which exists to support folks who suffer in some way for following their conscience. This Committee was the first regularly-scheduled/organized committee of PYM, and also was the first regular committee of Britain Yearly Meeting. These Committees date back to the Quaker early times when Quakers were arrested and jailed and had property seized for not participating in war. In this case, the Fund had monies to pay the fines that the four were given by the court. I have been a Trustee of the Fund for Sufferings for many years.
