On August 6th Brandywine Peace Community was at Lockheed Martin in King of Prussia for the 80th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. I intended to carry copies of Senate Resolution 323 (July 16, 2025) “a global effort to halt and reverse the nuclear arms race.” and House Resolution 1888 (March 5, 2025) “to direct the United States to sign the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons . . .” to give to the workers at this facility but was stopped and arrested before I could deliver them. I gave my copies to their head of security instead.

These posts seem to stress the drama of arrestable actions. Here are some day-to-day examples. If you have white male privilege, you have an obligation to use that power for good. Which I tried to do when I attended a Princeton Graduate School function and was able to interact briefly with President Cris Eisgruber and some Princeton trustees regarding support for academic freedom. When Fran and I celebrated our anniversary at a New Hope B&B, there was an opportunity to interact with other guests regarding peaceful responses to government stressors. I attended an in-person debate of Braver Angels (they bring different political groups together for discourse) regarding the issue of local (sic) laws regulating immigration. The rules of debate were clearly explained beforehand, including the opportunity for audience members to ask appropriate questions. The moderator controlled all this – no antics or running over your allotted time. I expected it to be boring, but it was a fascinating two-and-a-half hours. I even got to ask a question of one of the speakers and received a thoughtful response.
