Speaking at Villanova’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month Speak Out

Filed under: General — admin @ 11:39 am

I spoke of gently inquiring of past lady friends if they had ever had the experience of a man trying to force themselves onto them. I learned that about two-thirds of them had had such an experience — not a man jumping out from behind the bushes at night, but someone they knew. This is unacceptable and wrong, to say the least. So, men, do the right thing (text abbreviated).   I might also note that I was the only male speaker (there was an ‘allies’ category) other than brief introductory remarks, and there were essentially no men present. No pictures of this event – anonymity is held.

  1. Fr. Peter, Villanova’s President, was there and I spoke with him about why was I not allowed to leave messages of our favorite alumnus, Pope Leo, at the law school, viz. “Let those who have weapons lay them down.” (Easter, 2026)? Fr. Peter replied that there was a policy of no soliciting at the law school. “That’s hardly Veritas, Unitas, Charitas” (Villanova’s proudly oft-quoted motto) reply I. Well, he puts up with me, probably because he knows in his heart that I’m speaking the truth of the message of Jesus, while I recognize that he’s in a complex position. I discreetly leave Jesus’ and Leo’s words on campus anyhow. “Soliciting”??
