My Comment on this NYTimes article: Big-pharma marketing is both a health calamity and a financial calamity. Disease-mongering at its worst. But what can you expect as long as folks take the lazy-way out and tolerate government by corporate America? This is not rocket science. Eat moderate amounts of a healthy diet (not so easy in these days of unnatural “foods” that have been chemically adjusted to also be hyper-palatable), get outdoor exercise regularly, live simply, and have a good and understanding partner with compatible interests (including sexual). Acknowledge that, despite your best efforts, aging occurs with age and there will be some changes, but don’t feel insecure about this. Don’t allow yourself to be manipulated into denial so that you fall victim of expensive corporate fairy tales that things will go in the other direction. Most important of all, take responsibility for maintaining your own health naturally.
Sorry for the lecture, and you’ve all heard it before. Now WAKE UP and do something about it.
There are a few conditions where testosterone treatment is indicated, and the likely benefits outweigh the likely risks. But that’s not where the mass-marketing (and profit-making) is going. “Be the man of your dreams (and insecurities) now, and don’t worry if this produces any problems, because you can be sure that we will sell you medications for that also.”
